SYSTEM 8 Board Fault Locator

For testing digital components, the Board Fault Locator provides the user with the ability to functionally test all common digital ICs in and out-of-circuit. A combination of industry recognised test techniques provides a high level of fault coverage. Additional tools are provided by the software to further enhance the unit's wide range of applications.
The BFL can be upgraded to include up to 256 channels (in 64 channels steps) which enables live comparison of good and bad boards.

SYSTEM 8 Analogue Test Station

For testing all analogue components, the Analogue IC Tester is the answer. The key feature of the Analogue IC Tester is its ability to functionally test all common analogue ICs in-circuit. It is also capable of identifying and testing all other analogue devices by means of the well-known V-I test technique. For users requiring only the latter function, the Analogue Test Station is a lower cost option.

The technique of V-I testing is well established as a reliable method of fault finding on analogue boards.  A voltage waveform is applied via a limiting resistor to the node under test, and the resultant current is measured.  The current is then plotted against the applied voltage to display the analogue signature of the component under test.  Analysis of this curve, usually by comparison with a known good board, leads to rapid fault diagnosis.  A major advantage of the technique is that the board under test requires no power, so that even a completely "dead" board can be diagnosed.

SYSTEM 8 Variable Power Supply

The SYSTEM 8 Variable Power Supply provides the necessary supply voltages to the unit under test to allow other SYSTEM 8 modules to be utilised in fault-finding. The three output voltages are variable in both voltage and current making the Variable Power Supply suitable for a wide variety of applications.
